Cider is an alcoholic drink made from fermented apple juice, which is often over 6% alcohol by volume and stronger than beer. It has been made and enjoyed in Cornwall for hundreds of years and is a traditional industry which is still on-going today.
When you come to stay in one of our holiday cottages in Cornwall you will be within an easy drive to the famous Cornish Cyder Farm near Truro, which is a working cider farm where you can go for a guided tour and learn about the cider making process. The wonderful thing about visiting this particular cider farm is that the entrance is free and you can also try over 40 varieties of fruit products for free. In fact, there is a lot to do at this particular venue. There is also an extensive restaurant where you can eat some of the homemade produce you have already tried and tasted and you can even book the venue for parties. There is a beautiful farm for the enjoyment of children and adults alike. You can ride on a tractor through the 16 acres of apple orchards and throw your own pot in the pottery.
Our first holiday cottage in Cornwall actually shares a common theme with The Cornish Cyder Farm, in its name “The Old Cider Press”. In fact, we bought our holiday cottage as a new barn conversion near Crackington Haven on the north Cornwall Coast and then spent a further six months lovingly working on it to ensure that our guests will always come back to a place they feel they can call “home”.
